Subscription Policy
How recurring payments, renewals, plan changes and cancellations work for software bought through a DorskoPay checkout.
The short version
- check You can cancel online at any time, from your customer portal, without calling anyone and without a notice period.
- check The recurring amount, the currency, the interval and the date of the first charge are all shown before you confirm the purchase.
- check Nothing is charged during a free trial, and the price that applies when the trial ends is stated up front.
- check A price change applies only from a future billing period, never retrospectively, and you are told before it takes effect.
- check Cancelling stops future charges. It is not the same as a refund — see the Refund Policy.
1. How to cancel
This is first because it is what most people came to find.
You can cancel a subscription at any time from your customer portal, using the link on your receipt or on any renewal notice. Cancellation takes effect immediately as an instruction: no future renewal will be charged.
You can also cancel by emailing support@dorskopay.com from the address used at checkout, quoting the transaction reference. We action cancellation requests on receipt, and no later than one business day.
We do not require a phone call, a chat session, a retention conversation, a reason, or a notice period. Where a subscription was entered into online, it can be cancelled online.
We send a written confirmation of every cancellation stating the date access ends. Keep it — it is your evidence that the subscription was cancelled, and it is what we look for if a renewal is later charged in error.
2. Recurring billing and your authorisation
A subscription is a recurring payment. When you subscribe, you authorise DORSKO LIMITED trading as DorskoPay to charge the payment method you provide, at the price and interval shown at checkout, until the subscription is cancelled.
Because DorskoPay is the seller of record, that authorisation runs to DorskoPay, not to the software supplier, and the charge appears against the DorskoPay descriptor on your statement.
The checkout displays, before you confirm: the recurring amount; the currency; the billing interval; the amount due today, which may be zero during a trial; and the date the first recurring charge will be taken. We record the authorisation you give, the wording you were shown, the version of the terms in force and the time you gave it, and we repeat the key terms in your order confirmation.
3. Billing periods
The billing period is the interval you selected — monthly, yearly, or another interval the supplier offers. Each period is charged at its start and gives you access for the length of that period.
Your billing history, showing the amount and date of every charge, is available in your customer portal at any time.
A period already charged and already supplied is not shortened by a later cancellation; you keep access for the remainder of it.
4. Free trials
Where a subscription includes a free trial, the checkout states the trial length, the price that applies afterwards, and the exact date the first charge will be taken. Nothing is charged during the trial.
A trial converts to a paid subscription automatically when it ends, unless cancelled beforehand. Cancel at any point during the trial and you are not charged at all.
Where applicable law requires notice before a trial converts, that notice is sent to the email address on the order in advance of the charge.
5. Discounted introductory periods
Where an introductory or promotional price applies for a limited number of periods, the checkout states the introductory price, how long it lasts, and the standard price that applies afterwards.
The step up to the standard price is not a price increase under clause 10; it is the price you were shown when you subscribed. It still triggers a notice before the first charge at the standard rate.
6. Renewals and renewal notices
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the price shown, unless cancelled beforehand.
Where applicable law requires advance notice of an automatic renewal, of the end of a free trial, or of the first charge at a standard rate after an introductory period, that notice is sent to the email address on the order before the charge is taken.
Renewal notices, failed-payment notices and cancellation confirmations are transactional messages. They are part of the service and are sent whether or not you have opted into any marketing.
7. Saved payment credentials
To charge a subscription automatically, a payment credential is stored with the payment partner and referenced by a token. DorskoPay does not store your full card number or card security code on its own systems; it retains only the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry date so that you can recognise the card in your portal.
You can remove a saved payment method from your customer portal. Removing the payment method attached to an active subscription will cause the next renewal to fail, which will start the process in clause 9 — it is not a substitute for cancelling.
Where your card is replaced or updated by your issuer, the payment partner may receive the updated credential automatically so that renewals continue without interruption. If you do not want that, cancel the subscription.
8. Recurring payment attempts
Each renewal is submitted as a merchant-initiated transaction against the credential you authorised. Your issuer may still decline it, and may occasionally require you to authenticate.
We do not attempt a charge for a period after a subscription has been cancelled. If that ever happens, it is an error, and it is refunded in full on request under the Refund Policy — send us the cancellation confirmation.
9. Failed payments and dunning
If a renewal payment fails — an expired card, insufficient funds, or an issuer decline — we retry the charge on a defined schedule and notify you by email at the first failure so you can update your payment method.
The retry schedule is finite. If the payment still cannot be collected once it completes, the subscription may be suspended or cancelled and access may end. We notify you before that happens.
We do not use dunning as a pretext for charging amounts other than the amount due, and we do not add a fee for a failed payment.
You remain liable for amounts properly due in respect of a period during which you had access to the product.
10. Price changes
If the price of an ongoing subscription changes, the change applies from a future billing period only, never retrospectively.
We notify you before a price change takes effect, stating the new price and the date of the first charge at that price, so that you have the opportunity to cancel before it applies. Where applicable law prescribes a minimum notice period, that period is observed.
Continuing the subscription past the effective date, without cancelling, constitutes acceptance of the new price.
11. Upgrades, downgrades and plan changes
Where the supplier offers more than one plan, you can change plan from your customer portal.
An upgrade normally takes effect immediately and is prorated: you are charged the difference between the plans for the unused remainder of the current period. A downgrade normally takes effect from the start of the next billing period, so that you keep the access you have already paid for.
The exact amount, the effective date and the next renewal amount are shown before you confirm any plan change. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
A downgrade is not a cancellation and does not stop the subscription. If you want the subscription to end, cancel it.
12. Tax on a subscription
Applicable transaction tax is calculated on each charge from the location on the order and the tax treatment of the product, and is shown separately.
If a tax rate changes, or you change the country on your account, the tax applied to future charges changes accordingly. The total you pay may therefore change even where the subscription price has not, and the receipt for each period shows the breakdown.
The tax treatment of a subscription sale under the Merchant of Record model, and the documentation you receive, are described in clause 9 of the Buyer Terms.
13. When cancellation takes effect
Unless stated otherwise for the product, cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep access until then and you are not charged again.
Cancelling during a free trial ends the trial and the subscription at once, and no charge is taken.
Where a supplier offers immediate termination of access on cancellation, that is stated at checkout before you subscribe.
14. Cancellation is not a refund
Cancelling stops future charges. It does not automatically reverse a charge already taken for a period you have had access to.
If you believe a charge should also be refunded — a duplicate charge, an unauthorised payment, a renewal taken after you cancelled, a renewal you were never told about, or a product that was not delivered — say so when you cancel, or open a refund request separately. The Refund Policy sets out when a refund is issued and how the request is handled.
Asking for both at once is the fastest route, and it is what we recommend.
15. Suspension of a subscription
A subscription may be suspended where a renewal payment cannot be collected, where the supplier has been suspended by DorskoPay, or where we are required to suspend it by law or by a payment partner.
Where a subscription is suspended for a reason other than your non-payment, and you have paid for a period you can no longer use, that period is refunded on a pro-rata basis.
16. Support and complaints
Questions about a charge, a renewal, a cancellation, a plan change or a refund go to DorskoPay as the seller of record: support@dorskopay.com.
Questions about how the software itself works are usually answered fastest by the supplier who built it; their details are on your receipt.
If something has gone wrong and you want it escalated, the Complaints Policy sets out how.
17. Your rights as a consumer
Nothing in this policy affects the rights you have under applicable consumer law, including any statutory cancellation or withdrawal right, and including your rights where digital content is not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose or not as described.
Where a term of this policy conflicts with a mandatory consumer protection that applies to you, that protection prevails.
Your right to raise a dispute with your card issuer is unaffected by this policy, and you do not have to use our process first.
